I know by now you are most likely getting sick of me, but today is the last and final day in my Reviews Week! I am actually rather sad as I have had a lot of fun reviewing products for you guys! I was debating whether or not to actually review this product as I haven’t been using it for long, pretty much a week. I tend to find that I can tell if I like or don’t like a product from the get go and I feel like I have a good opinion on this product. The product that is in the spot light today is of course the L’Oreal Infallible Pro Matte 24 Hour Foundation. This foundation has been raved about on social media for quite some time, and I felt like I have wanted to try it for ages. I am so happy that I finally got round to it! Now for the review…
So after reading the description on L’Oreal’s website, there are a few key points to this foundation that make it special. The first being the 24 hour wear. It also claims to keep you matte throughout the duration of that time whilst being sweatproof, steamproof and waterproof. It claims to keep shine at bay throughout the day and have a high coverage. On the back of the bottle it states that the texture is medium, so it is not air light but it is not heavy either.
This foundation comes in a tube with a screw on lid at the bottom. It is not your average bottle. I was a little disappointed that there wasn’t a pump for sanitary reasons, but there is a fine spout that the product comes out of which makes it easier to not get so much product out. The packaging itself feels very sturdy and has your average black detailing with one bold red print making it stand out. I like that the colour is also clearly displayed on the tube making it easier to find your shade rather than having to look on the bottom of the bottle.
This foundation retails for £7.99. I honestly thought it would be more expensive than this as I find L’Oreal can be a little dearer than the average high street prices, but I was pleasantly surprised. You also get 35 ml in these tubes which is 5 ml over your average sized bottle of foundation.
There aren’t that many shades available considering this is a L’Oreal foundation. They’re true match has so many shades, it’s hard not to find one for you. This foundation however only comes in 9 shades. It isn’t bad, but some may find it hard to get a good colour match. I also find that even though the majority of these foundations have a yellow undertone, the one shade that fits me has a pink undertone (porcelain). It isn’t a terrible match, but it would be nice if I could find one foundation that is light enough with a yellow undertone. Once I applied it however, it actually suited my skin rather well but was a little bit light.
When I first applied this foundation I noticed that the consistency was pretty much exactly what I like. It wasn’t watery thin, yet so thick you knew it was going to be just like applying cake mix to your face. It has a good middle ground, so I was expecting a good medium coverage out of this foundation. I have been applying this with my RT Complexion Sponge and it applies beautifully. It blends so well, the coverage was so much more than I thought it would be so a thin layer is all you need, it also looked simply great. I also noticed that shortly after I applied the foundation it set really well to a matte finish and felt like air on my skin. It wasn’t wet at all it just felt like I had a light dusting of powder on my skin, yet without looking powdery. I just got that smooth powder feel.
This foundation lasts like no other! I have never know a foundation to hold up as long as this one, and still look as good. There are so many long lasting foundations out there, but I tend to find they start to break up throughout the day. This foundation does not do that. I put it to the test and wore it to work one night. Twelve hour shift, I sweated, I showered some residents, I got wet too. I really wanted to try out if this foundation really was sweatproof, waterproof and steamproof whilst staying matte on my skin. I noticed that the water and steam from the shower really didn’t affect my makeup, of course I wasn’t bathing my face, but every now and then you tend to get splashed when you are trying to help someone shower. I did notice that it done a good job of keeping my oil at bay for the majority of the night, that was until I started sweating. The first couple of times I got a little flustered, my foundation was fine, but after the first few times the foundation wasn’t soaking up the sweat or oil. It did state that it holds up to 4 times it’s weight in water, and I must of used that up! It still didn’t look ridiculously oily however, once I had cooled down, it just looked like I had a healthy glow. It confused me how this worked, but I was very impressed! It didn’t stay matte around my T zone all night, but it did hold up pretty darn well!
The best part of this foundation for me is that is doesn’t break up on my skin, it doesn’t break me out either. It stays blended and flawless for such a long time and I am so happy with it.
So.. I think I may love this foundation. It looks great on the skin, it doesn’t look cakey at all, it stays put for long periods of time, it works well with any other products over top, it gives me confidence as it makes my skin simply look good whilst not being so overwhelmingly matte or looking straight up like layers of product. It is just a great foundation, great price, great quality and I really am enjoying this product. I would definitely repurchase this one again!
So there was the final review for my Reviews Week! I hope you enjoyed!
Have you tried this foundation, what did you think of it?
Until next time my loves!
