I have seen so many beautiful valentines day makeup looks recently that I wasn’t going post one, just because there are so many! I have decided to just do it however and share with you my take on valentines day makeup. This makeup look is much more subtle and neutral than others that I have seen. The ‘trend’ for valentines this year has seemed to be pink eyes with a nude lip or sharp wings with a bold red lip. I have gone for a simple sparkly smokey eye and a soft ‘my lips but better’ nude lip. I have also used a lot of new products so I hope you enjoy!
Like any other makeup look I always start with my face. I wanted to keep the base quite dewy. To prime, I started by using my Nivea Men After Shave Balm. This stuff is amazing! You really wouldn’t think it as it is such a simple product, but it really does prolong the wear of my makeup. Next, I spritzed my face with a little bit of Mac Fix + to give my face a dewy start.
For this look I wanted to try out this set from Benefit. I started by adding the Benefit Porefessional to the center of my face to blur out any pores and fine lines. Next I applied the Benefit Oxygen Wow Foundation in Light. This foundation was slightly too light for me but I lightened it up with my concealer. I didn’t use the concealer in this set as I have tried it out previously and it is far too heavy for me personally.
For concealer I used my Urban Decay Naked Weightless Concealer. This sh*t is magic. I am in love. What better product to use for valentines day than one makes you fall in love every time you use it?! I applied this under my eyes, center of the forehead, bridge of the nose, chin and to my jaw line to lighten my foundation.
For a day like Valentines day when you want your makeup to last all night (and day), I decided to do a little baking under my eyes. Say hello to my favourite high street loose powder, Rimmel Match Perfection Silky Loose Powder. This powder is so fine and so gorgeous, so I chucked a load underneath my eyes and let that cook away. This will be the only thing I am cooking this valentines day! To set the rest of my face, I used that pressed powder from the Benefit set.
For bronzer and blush I used the W7 Cheeky Trio Palette. I love these powders as they have the slightest iridescence to them and give the skin that glowy appearance without being straight up shimmery. They look so natural!
Finally, for the best part of any makeup look. HIGHLIGHT! It’s the same old for me, but I tried to change it up a little bit. Of course, there is no other highlight I would use other than the Becca x Jaclyn Hill Champagne Pop Shimmering Skin Perfector. It really is too good. I then added this shimmery highlight shade from the Too Faced Chocolate Bar Palette to the very tops of my cheekbones to add a further pop. I was so pleased how it turned out!
I am so excited about this eye look, I am using a palette that I have been dying to get my hands on and it turned out so well! I used the Too Faced Chocolate Bar Palette to create this neutral smokey eye. I have numbered the shades that I used in the order I used them to make this process a little easier.
First up, I took shade 1 into my crease and buffed it all the way up and out. I then deepened that crease with shade 2. Shade 3 was used in my outer corner to add definition and depth. Number 4 is actually the Loc Eye Shadow Stick in this gorgeous Champagne colour. I applied this colour in the inner portion of my lid and the inner half of my lower lash line to brighten and open up my eyes. Finally, shade 5 was used in the center of my lid. I think that this colour is my favourite in the whole palette. It is a beautiful neutral pink/champagne colour. It is so universal and holds so much shine!
Now for the rest of my eyes. I am going to run through this really quickly as I find these parts so long winded! Collection Kohl Eyeliner in Brown was used to tight line my eyes, Benefit They’re Real Tinted Primer and Maybelline Illegal Definition Mascara are my favourite combo for my eye lashes right now! It gives such a great finish, plenty of length and volume whilst holding a curl all day long. I did apply some really light false lashes just to add a little something special, but I would happily wear this without them.
For my brows I have been really into the Freedom Eye Brow Pomade. I have finally found a brush that makes this product work for me and that is the Zoeva Brow Line Brush. These two are perfection together!
Now for the lips! When I finished my eyes I was looking at my face and thinking how much colour I wanted to add to this look. Honestly, my natural lip colour was looking really good with the eye makeup. I just wanted a nice nude pink that was going to enhance that colour but still look like something was there. I took the Mac Matte Lipstick in Mehr. This colour is actually a really gorgeous deep mauve shade, but I very lightly dabbed this on the centre of my lips and then blended it out with my fingers until it was soft and natural. I love how well this turned out and it still lasted so long!
Ta Da! The finished look…
I hope you all enjoyed this makeup look and I hope everyone has a great valentines day! Until next time my loves…
