The Best Full Coverage Foundation Ever?! Review & Check Ins

Happy new year &  welcome to 2017 everyone! I hope you all had a lovely night celebrating the new year, and you are all ready for yet another year of memory making! I wanted to start this year on a major high, so for my blog I couldn’t think of a better idea than to share with you my review of possibly the best full coverage foundation I have ever come across. I think this post has come just in time too as many of us may be suffering from the party season and the festivities, and this may be your perfect skin fix-me-up when your eyes are dark and skin probably isn’t feeling it’s best! Oh, you probably want to know what foundation I am talking about don’t you? Today’s review is based all around the Dermacol Makeup Cover. The fact that they don’t even call this foundation a foundation, but rather a ‘cover’ should be your first sign of what’s to come, but if you want to read every little detail about this baby then keep on reading….

According to the Dermacol website, this foundation is described as:

The clinically tested, extreme covering Make up Cover was created as the first of its kind in Europe and one of the first in the world. The license for this foundation was eventually sold to Hollywood. It contains 50% pigments, which makes it a weapon against skin imperfections. DERMACOL MAKE-UP COVER provides PERFECT COVERAGE even in thin layers and is the perfect corrector for dark under-eye, unpleasant spots and skin blemishes. It completely covers acne, loss of pigmentation, post surgical bruising, tattoos etc. It may be used on the entire face or body for color correction, darkening or lightening the skin tones, and ensuring ideal balance. It is widely used as a professional make-up for photo or film shoots, modeling and for festive occasions.

    For all skin types
    SPF 30
    Preservative free
  • 13 Shades
  • COVERAGE: Full (extreme)

So this foundation comes boxed and is in a gold tube. The tube feels like that kind of tin material that when you press down it stays down, it isn’t a plastic tube so you can tell when you are running out or how much you have used. I didn’t think that I would like this tube packaging but I actually do like it.

It is surprisingly easy to control exactly how much product you want and it is a good size for storage. Even though the tube seems small, you still get 30ml of product which is the same as your average bottle of liquid foundation, but due to the consistency and how little you need of this foundation then this tube will last you forever!

This foundation is surprisingly hard to find in the UK. You can purchase it on eBay which is what I done, but shades are never in stock! I finally got my hand on 208 and paid £9.99 for it, but there are other listings that are as little as £5.99. I think it is about shopping around as I haven’t seen a set website to purchase this from with a set price.

So I decided to apply this foundation with a damp beauty sponge. I use the real techniques one as it is my favourite. When I first squirted out the foundation on my hand I was so nervous as it is the thickest texture I have ever seen in a foundation! This to me rang major alarm bells as anything with a really thick texture is usually really cakey or hard to blend and will usually cling to dry patches and bunch up. This is another reason I chose to use my damp sponge as I thought that it would sheer it out slightly and give me a smoother finish. I purchased the shade 208 and I will say that it was pretty pink toned and I had to blend it right down my next as I have more of a yellow undertone.

Before foundation application: 8:12am

The second I started blending this out I was shocked at the coverage of it! As you can see from the before picture, I have a few breakouts at the moment, some redness  and darkness in areas. My skin is pretty uneven at the moment. I picked up the tiniest amount on the top of my sponge and started blending it and it covered… EVERYTHING! I used next to no product and the pigment just shocked me. I have done a close up for you to see the texture of my skin after I applied it.

You can see that it still looks like skin, it’s not heavy or cakey, and it has just melted into my skin and is untraceable! I am so shocked at how good this looked. I applied concealer under my eyes as I didn’t want to use the foundation as concealer as I have heard that it creases, so I used my Mac Pro Longwear Concealer for that. The amount I put on my hand was way too much too! I only used about half of that product and had to wipe the rest off. The foundation set down to quite a dewy finish too which I am so happy about as a matte full coverage foundation can look quite heavy. This has a lovely glow to it, so much so that I actually had to powder my nose as it looked a little too dewy for me personally (never thought those words would leave my lips).  You can see by the After photo below just how well it covered and cleared my skin, without looking or feeling heavy and it just looked flawless.

After foundation application: 8:23am.
(nothing else but foundation applied)

I was so impressed throughout the day with this foundation. I felt like it was just getting better and better throughout the day.

Check in #1: 3 hours of wear. (11:30am)

One major thing I noticed at the end of the night was that my skin was no where near as oily as it usually gets with my other foundations. I have combo/oily skin and my forehead more than anything is usually pretty oily after 10/11/12 hours of wear, but this foundation just looked dewy. It didn’t crease around my nostrils which is normal for me and it didn’t crease in my frown line in between my eye brows. Everything looked smooth and still really natural. Nothing had broken up or gotten patchy. It just looked really bloody good!

Check in #2: Close up after 7 hours of wear. (3:38pm).
P.s don’t you just love an awkward angle! Had to get a good pore shot didn’t I haha!

Personal Opinion

I BLOODY LOVE THIS STUFF! I have honestly wore this foundation every single day since I have purchased it. It is full full coverage, it hides everything without being cakey and just looks like skin. That is really hard to find so that fact that this foundation does it is almost too good to be true. It honestly is just a great foundation though and I cannot complain about anything! If I had to be picky, I would say that they need some lighter and darker shades, but 208 can work for me. Something with a more yellow undertone but still pale enough would be nice though. It is just flawless, it looks like skin! The photo’s are completely unedited so you can really see how it actually looks up close. It is amazing and it gets a 10/10 A+++ from me! Highly recommend!

I hope you have enjoyed this foundation review and found it helpful! Until next time my lovelies…
