Anti-Haul Summer 2017

I have had this insane obsession with watching anti-hauls recently. Don’t get me wrong, I love a good haul, but I also love watching why people won’t spend their money on a certain product and their justification for it. There is something quite satisfying about watching people save their money I guess! If only I could too..

So for this post I want to share all the products that I refuse to spend my money on. Some high end, some low end and a few in between!

Anastasia Subculture Palette

I have been going insane over this palette and I am not someone who easily gets hooked on something. I have been watching review after review after review and even still I have considered buying this damn palette. Firstly, I just want to say that the shades in this palette inspired me so much, and I was actually more interested in this palette than the Modern Renaissance as I thought that one was more basic. Something about the shades and colour story just intrigued me, but after seeing so many bad reviews and never having spent £40 odd pounds on an eyeshadow palette before then I refuse to take the risk.  Maybe if they sort the problem out I may consider it again, but right now I just can’t!

Kylie Cosmetics Lip Kits

If I am being honest, I kind of refuse to buy anything from Kylie Cosmetics. Let me explain! I really love Kylie and following the Kardashians/Jenners are a guilty pleasure of mine. What I will not do is pay money for a name when the quality is something that I could get for a much more reasonable price! I know that everyone craves over Kylie and her makeup style, so her own makeup line was bound to be successful, but for me again there are too many mixed reviews and I will not pay that amount of money when I know I can get something I like for less money. Then I have leftover to buy more makeup… logic!

Laura Mercier Translucent Powder

This powder is a cult classic so I don’t know why I have never been interested in trying it! I tend to go through phases with my setting powders and sometimes prefer loose to pressed and vice versa. This may sound absolutely ridiculous but do you ever feel like when people are talking about a product and hyping it up that much, you almost can’t be bothered to even try it. Almost like you know your expectations are now set sky high and you are setting yourself up for disappointment. Well this is how I feel about this powder. I am bored of it already! If I ever try this powder and it really is that good then I will eat my words, but for now…

Makeup Geek Highlighters

Who doesn’t love a good bloody highlight? There is just something magical about it. I am up to try almost any highlighter, and I have been following Makeup Geek on social media and was so excited when I heard that they were coming out with highlighters. I know Marlena worked so hard on making these the best quality she could for a lesser price but when they got released and I was watching her reveal video, I was just underwhelmed. The shades were disappointing to me and I hadn’t heard anything about these highlights so for that reason I just don’t think I am going to bother. Plus I’ve got champagne pop, do I need anything more in life?!

Nars Radiant Creamy Concealer

I can already hear the *gasps* coming from behind the computer screen. I know that this concealer is another cult product and is loved by many but whenever I see anyone use it I just feel like it’s nothing different and I already have concealers that I know and love. I feel like there are the Creamy Concealer users and the Naked Concealer users and no one really switches paths. I love my naked skin and have never really got the urge to try the radiant creamy. I’m sure if I ever had the opportunity to try it I would probably love it and run out and buy it but until then I can’t see myself desperate to purchase this one!

What products are on your anti-haul? Have you tried any of these products?

Until next time…

  1. The Subculture palette is getting delivered to me tomorrow. I watched a couple of reviews that made a lot of sense to me – check out Stef Nicole and Wayne Goss’ YouTube videos if you haven’t already.

I liked the NARS concealer but the Tarte Shape Tape concealer kicks its butt.

I agree with the Laura Mercier powder. I want to try it but that price tag is just too much.

    1. I watched Wayne goss and I completely see where they are coming from, but I think if I am paying that much for an eyeshadow palette then I’d want it to work easily and not have to worry about ruining my makeup and having to start over if that makes sense. Let me know how you get on though as I am still obsessed with watching reviews etc and secretly still want it hahah!

I am dying to try the tarte shape tape but just haven’t gotten around to it yet, plus everytime I go to buy it my shade is sold out 😫😂 x

      1. Man I can relate to the Shape Tape being constantly sold out, I finally had to order it online through Ulta because it was never available in stores.

So I’ve been using the palette for about a week now, and I’m in love. It’s definitely PIGMENTED. The best way I’ve found to use it is to either do your eyes first, so then you can wipe away all of the fallout, or just don’t use a ton of product. TBH, I haven’t had an issue with fall out much at all. If you tap your brush gently into the shade you’ll get more than enough pigment. I’ve literally used it every day since I got it because I’m working on writing a review on my blog. The only shade in there I don’t like is Cube (the white/pink duochrome).

  2. I’ve just ordered the Subculture. I have seen the reviews but want to make my own opinion on it. Everyone has different preferences so hopefully I’m going to like it. If not…. Ebay lol x

      1. I’m in the uk so would probably have to go through the abh uk site, definitely handy to know! Xx

    1. 😂😂 I agree, id love to give my own opinion but more often than not I can’t really afford high end makeup and when I really want something I really have to save so I can’t imagine buying a palette and being disappointed by it I’d be gutted! 🙈

  3. I totally get your reasons for not wanting to try the Laura Mercier powder, I’m the same way when it comes to anything that’s been hyped up. But… It really is a great product. I don’t know how I ever did my makeup before lol.
