Nyx Lip Lingerie Liquid Lipstick Review & Wear Test

There are so many products that I have been dying to try from Nyx and the Lip Lingeries are definitely one of them! Nyx aren’t actually stocked in my local Boots so when I went on a shopping trip to Norwich recently I took full advantage of their beautiful array of Nyx Products. I definitely have some pro’s and con’s with this products so let’s get into the review….

I love good packaging, and I think Nyx do a really good job with the majority of their packing. The component itself feels like good quality and I love that everything is quite simple and sophisticated. The tube itself is clear so you can see the colour of the lipstick that you are choosing and the lid and all writing is in black which I enjoy.

The wand on this product is quite nice too, it is quite long and flat but the shape allows you to apply the product neatly and not have to worry about getting a dodgy lip line. I picked up the shade Corset which is a gorgeous brown/taupe nude which is my all time favourite! The Nyx Lingerie line is solely nude shades so there is a nude for everyone which I really enjoy.

When it came to applying it I noticed that the product itself was quite thick and had a whipped texture. I don’t mind whipped liquid lipsticks but they aren’t my favourite kind. I much prefer a thin liquidy consistency as I find they are more comfortable to wear. When I first applied the lipstick I noticed that it had good pigmentation to it but once I started to smooth it over my lips it was a little sheerer than I would of hoped and needed a second layer. I really hate applying second layers of liquid lipsticks as I find that is when they start to look heavy and feel uncomfortable. I also noticed that it started to get very tacky very quickly which wasn’t very comfortable either.

Once I had both layers applied, I waited for a couple of minutes to see if it would dry down but it didn’t. Instead it was very tacky and was pretty uncomfortable to wear especially when I pressed my lips together. I did notice that even though I wasn’t pressing my lips together hard, the product was transferring from my bottom lip to the top. The photo above isn’t very flattering but I just wanted to show you that I was also experiencing a lot of dryness and I felt like the inner parts of my lips were caked in product and making my mouth feel like it was cracking, despite it not being completely dry. First impressions were that I didn’t like this product at all, but I still wanted to wear it and see if it dried down and how it held up. I will say that I am so gutted that the formula wasn’t great in my opinion as I am in love with the shade of this lipstick. Corset is my perfect ideal nude shade, it had a cool/brown undertone but wasn’t too grey or warm toned and looked really flattering against my fair skin. It is one of those shades that would go with every single makeup look.

First Check In – Freshly Applied at 12:15pm

Second Check In – Two Hours of Wear at 2:20pm

Not much has changed at this point, it still hadn’t dried down but the tackiness had dulled slightly. Still loving the colour, but the formula I am just not in love with. Very drying by this point, was dying to put a good lip balm over it! Top lip was very uncomfortable.

Third Check In – Five Hours of Wear at 5:35pm

I wanted to see how the lipstick performed when I ate, and it didn’t hold up too well. I am not one of these people that are especially careful when eating so that I don’t ruin my lipstick.. I mean food is there to be enjoyed and I am not going to sit there and eat an apple with a knife and fork?! I can always reapply hey! It isn’t the worst lipstick after eating, some of it still stayed put but a lot had come off. At this point I was ready to call it quits so I just removed it and slathered on a good lip balm!

Overall I am not a fan of the Lip Lingeries! They were just too thick and uncomfortable to me and they were very drying on my lips. I didn’t like that it didn’t fully dry down and I didn’t like that I couldn’t get a smooth, even application. The colour is beautiful so I will definitely be looking out for more lipsticks that are this tone, but apart from that I can’t say that I will be running out to buy any more of the Lip Lingeries any time soon!

I hope you found this review helpful! If you have tried this product I would love to hear your thoughts. Have you experienced anything simular to me? Or did you love them?
